The property boasts a white sandy beach to the front, which is fringed by tropical vegetation and lapped by the azure waters of the calm Indian Ocean creek. The Shela skyline beyond the channel provides an authentic Islamic backdrop to the beach, which is particularly captivating on a starry night. A protected tidal mangrove forest and creek to the rear makes this and ideal place to completely relax and ensures maximum privacy.
The prestigious Shela Village and Lamu Town are both 5 min navigation away by boat across the channel.
Accommodation at Tanganyusi House
The 3-bedroom/2-bathroom (all double rooms) Tanganyusi House is demarcated by a traditional low Arabic perimeter wall and includes an organic house facing the channel, a white luxury safari tent and a small guest wing of Arabic architecture to the rear, which has a lounge, double bedroom and bathroom plus a rooftop terrace.
The seafront boundary is 25m from the high water mark and incorporates a pergola and baraza seating area with a separate kitchen service tower. The home is lit by lanterns in the evening and the kitchen is gas with a solar fridge.
Staff & Dining
The house comes with a cook/gardener/askari who has been working at the house for 20 years. He is an incredible chef, very efficient and very lovely. The house is self-catering which means you need only arrange for shopping with the staff and pay for ingredients at cost.

Upon confirming rates and availability, you will receive an electronic invoice and a deposit can then be made by credit card, paypal, m-pesa or bank transfer to confirm your booking.
On receipt of your deposit, we will send you a receipt, confirmation, and voucher for your stay. The balance of the rental is due prior to or upon your arrival.
