About
Located on Shela beach, at entry of Lamu Archipelago, and designed in authentic Swahili style, Forodhani House is a large whitewashed villa, whose truly stunning location lets you constantly be lulled by the lapping waves, cooled by the gentle sea breeze, allayed by the to and fro of boats entering and leaving the archipelago.
It is the ideal place to stay with family or friends (10 to 13 people) for your best holiday ever.
Here you will be able to unwind (4 staff including an excellent cook to pamper you), enjoy the pristine white sand beach and watersports (sailing, swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing, fishing), discover Lamu Old Town (the rich Swahili culture and its welcoming atmosphere). You will also be able to experience nature at its best.
Accommodation
On the ground floor, the big kitchen, the sophisticated dining terrace, the large lounge alongside the pool, the different areas to take it easy in, and the garden, all offer varied possibilities for dining and relaxing. You walk from room to room through arched galleries, watching the plasterwork, niches and friezes which ornate the walls.
Hand-woven rugs, light curtains, antique coffee-tables and old chests furnish Forodhani House.
From the terraces of the 1st and 2nd floors, you overlook the whole channel and your view gives onto the whole archipelago. At your feet, the sails of the dhows skim the house, aiming for Lamu, Manda or the open seas. On the roof terrace, the view is staggering.
At your feet, the beach, the sails of the dhows....
Dining
You will love the dinners served by the side of the pool under the arcades, in the garden, on the terrace overlooking the beach, or perhaps you may prefer a romantic dinner on the roof terrace, where you only have to stretch out your hands to touch the stars.
And from Forodhani House, because of its unique location, there is always a show: you are having breakfast and you suddenly see a school of sardines jumping, trying to escape barracudas, or dolphins swimming up the Channel, or a friends’ dhow sliding from one arch to the other, or a fishermen boat coming from the open seas with scores of tuna. It’s both relaxing, beautiful and so interesting!
